Give your dishes some extra flavour with homemade compound butter! It is supa easy to make, customisable & who doesn’t love a little butter.
Compound butter is softened butter, whipped with various sweet or savory ingredients. A simple concept with limitless potential!
Here are 3 compound butter recipes to get you started!

Supa Tip:
- Start with unsalted butter so you are able to control the amount of salt when you add the seasonings.
- You can use an electric mixer for a fluffier butter. But as a busy mum, I choose to use a bowl and fork – the fewer dishes the better!
How to?
- Once the butter is soft, blend in the sweet or savory ingredients.
- Place on a sheet of baking paper or cling wrap and roll into a log.
- Tie each end of the baking paper or cling wrap and refrigerate until hard.
- Enjoy as needed!
If you don’t or can’t eat dairy, coconut oil makes a great substitute. It does lend a coconut taste to the “butter”, but that works wonders when put with complementary ingredients, such as curry powder, lime juice and cilantro.
